An aromatics complex is a combination of process units which are used to separate / process petroleum Peatformate in to the basic petroleum intermediates Benzene, Toluene and Xylenes (BTX)
Benzene is a building block for over 250 products including ethyl benzene, (for Styrene), Cumene (for Phenol) and Cyclohexane.
Toluene has become increasingly valuable for the production of xylenes through toluene disproporitionation and transalkylation with C9 aromatics. The "Mixed Xylenes" contains four different C* Isomers: Para-xylenes, Ortho-xylenes, Meta-xylenes and Ethyl benzene. The majority of the xylenes are processed further to produce one or more of the production of poly fibers, resins and films.
